Joseph Murphy

comingsoonJoe graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Government and International Studies, and graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. During law school, he worked at the Minnesota State Public Defender’s appellate office and at a law firm specializing in class action litigation.

After law school, Joe worked as a law clerk with Anoka County District Court Judge Donald Venne, who is now retired. In 2002, Joe joined Sweeney, Borer & Sweeney (later Sweeney, Murphy & Sweeney) where he worked primarily in the areas of criminal prosecution and municipal law. Joe represented a number of municipalities in Anoka County and Ramsey County and has extensive experience trying cases, litigating contested hearings, and arguing cases at the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Joe joined Carson, Clelland & Schreder in 2015 and works with the firm’s municipal clients in criminal and civil matters and assists private clients in criminal defense and family law matters.

Joe is married with two children and lives in the east metro.
