John J. Thames

John graduated magna cum laude from St. John’s University in 2003. He graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2006, where he was a director of the Labor and Employment Law Moot Court and a top member of the Multi-Profession Business Law Clinic. John worked as a law clerk with Bonner and Borhart, LLP before joining Carson, Clelland & Schreder in December of 2006. Since that time, John has worked primarily in the field of criminal prosecution and municipal law. John has handled numerous trials and has argued at the Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court.

John serves as the City Attorney for several cities, and also assists in the representation of each of the firm’s other municipal clients. John also represents private clients in real estate transactions and disputes, criminal defense, creditors’ remedies cases, and represents small businesses as general counsel.

John and his family reside in the east metro.
