Jeffrey Carson received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota, and then proceeded to receive his Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota in 1972. Jeff began his legal career at the firm of Schieffer, Hadley, Bakke and Jensen, which was later known as Schieffer and Carson, where his practice focused on municipal law.
In 1979, Jeff and William Clelland formed the law firm of Carson & Clelland, now known as Carson, Clelland & Scherder. Since the mid-1970’s, Jeff has focused his practice primarily in the field of municipal law and has served as City Attorney for several municipalities in Hennepin and Anoka Counties.
As part of his municipal practice, Jeff has worked extensively in the fields of eminent domain and special assessments. Jeff has also served as a Commissioner in condemnation matters within the metropolitan area. Jeff’s practice also includes the areas of municipal land use, zoning, real estate and commercial real estate transactions.
As of August, 2025, Jeff has shifted his practice to full time yoga, pilates, travel and time with friends and family. We are grateful for all that Jeff has provided to our firm and our clients and hope he enjoys retirement.
Jeff enjoys hiking, golf, yoga, pickle ball, reading and is an avid baseball fan.
