Calen is an associate attorney working both in our municipal practice as well as work with private clients handling criminal defense, harassment restraining orders, orders for protection as well as other family law matters. Calen comes from the unique background of having worked for many years as a criminal and family paralegal prior to attending law school. His previous legal experience includes work in criminal prosecution, as well as municipal attorney in the Minneapolis metro area after law school. There, he handled a variety of litigation matters, including employment issues, education law, enforcement of city and county ordinances, civil warrants, personal injury, and contract law. Most recently Calen was working at a family law firm, and handled a wide variety of family law matters including judgment enforcement, parenting time and custody modification, non-marital tracing, division of marital assets as well as appellate work.
Calen earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis on Management from the University of Montana – Missoula. He then pursued his Juris Doctor at the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he was a member of the moot court team and gained practical experience representing the City of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, under his student practice papers.
In his free time, Calen enjoys spending time with his dog, playing pickleball and tennis, running, and exploring new restaurants.
